Value Distribution
Kasper, I have a 10,000 line spreadsheet that is in an xls format that contains Entity Name, Street1,Street2,City,State, PostalCode, Country. I can perform a Standard Measures, String Analysis, Pattern Finder on the spreadsheet but not the Value Distribution. No matter how I adjust the top n and bottom n when I click run profiling- no data is returned. Your assistance is greatly appreciated has helped so far. thanks Elaine
Does the application stall or does it simply return an empty result or what?
The application simply returns an empty result.Kasper- I don't know whether anyone else has showed appreciation or said thank you to you for your hard work-but I want to express my gratitude for all your hard work. I am still a beginner at SQL scripting and I don't know how to create Perl 'regular expressions'. I came across your tool and it could possibly be a job saver for me! Thank you so much. If you know of any other tools that could help me- any input is gratefully appreciated. Elaine
Thanks for all of your appreciation Elaine :) It's always really cool to hear that people like the app.
Regarding your Value Distribution issue I'm a little bit lost. I cannot recreate the issue on my machine. Perhaps you could create a sample .xls file for me so that I can recreate the issue?

Kasper, I know how important it is to 'recreate' an issue. Is it possible for me to email you the xls spreadsheet and let you try it for yourself? I can't find a forwarding option in the forum. I am hoping to get all this resolved before Monday. Another suggestion on app development - I wish I could find a Data Quality Dashboard (non-sales) so that I could run database checks to search for possible errors in the data. I need a dashboard where I could do regular system checks on a scheduled basis. I haven't found any freeware or even software out there that does this. We do utilize Business Objects at work where we can create and schedule reports but some data really needs to be extracted from the database itself. Thanks Elaine
Can I perhaps convince you to upload the file on our bugtracker? You can create a new issue and attach the file here: http://eobjects.org/trac/newticket
If you don't want to share the document publically you can email it to me at kasper-at-eobjects.dk.
Regarding your need for scheduled runs of data quality measures I can say just two things:
1. DataCleaner support command-line execution using the runjob.cmd/.sh program. This you could easily schedule using "scheduled tasks" in windows or "cron" in unix/linux. You will then have to design a report yourself that presents the results.
2. Actually what you're talking about is one of the main business cases for people like me :-) If you're interested in buying services from me to implement what you're looking for it's quite possible to do business with me like that ;-)
