Is there a way to process pipe-delimited, or for that matter 'any character'-delimited input file?

Currently, no. But it's actually a feature that has been underway for some time (issue #230) but I think the ones working on it has stalled a bit.
Anyway - it shouldn't be a hard thing to fix, so maybe you'd like to join in on the development so we can get this feature into the application soon?

That's understandable! Hmm - then my recommended fix is to replace all pipes with tabs or comma's :-)
