Is it possible to run DataCleaner 2.1 in a linux machine which doesn't have a GUI ?
basically how to register database driver / create the job .. etc etc

It is possible but it requires an effort that is not yet documented and also no very thoroughly tested. I think you already joined the debate here which should give you an idea about how it works.
