what popup window? and does it also show four square boxes on your screen, or is that chinese characters (that my browser probably cannot render)?

Hmm, that's a bit weird, but I guess it must be some kind of localization thing where it cannot find a chinese font for the button. The error dialog popups are based on a third-party library (SwingX) for common UI widgets. Can you try changing your OS language to english, just to verify that this bug is caused by your OS language?
